Search Engine Optimization

Tell the Search Engines Your Site Exists

In order for your site to be found by a search engine, you must first submit it to the search engine databases at the following urls:

Link to Your Site Internally and Externally

Search engines weight pages by the relevance of the content on the page, the page title, the keywords listed on the page, and above all, the number of sites and pages that link to a website's page. Who links to your site is as important, or more important, than the number of links to your site. For example, a link to your site on msn.com means much more to Google than a link on your friend's site. Make sure you link content within your site to your new pages so the search engine crawlers can find them.

Make the Most of Your Keywords

  1. Keep your list of keywords for a given page short.
  2. Use phrases that visitors are likely to search on in a search engine.
  3. Include words that exist in your page content or page title.
  4. Include keywords and phrases that are unique to your page's content to help differentiate it from similar webpages.
